Gingerbread Houses 2012

Two gingerbread parties this year. Builders in the first group were: Marsha, Karyl, Bri, Terry, K., Marion, Elva, C., C., Brittany, and me. It was everyone's first time decorating gingerbread houses.

Bri's house.
ginger
Terry and K's house. Notice the bricks on the walls!

ginger
C's house from the front. Loved the peppermint pretzel fences from Apple Valley this year! Yummy!

ginger
C's house from the back. She made a great double mint fence. Note also the chocolate bar windows!

ginger
The second C's house from the back. Notice the garlands on the tree and the Meier m&m-like white candy for snow in the yard.

ginger
C's house from the front. The leftover Halloween chocolate bars made great windows and doors this year. Both C's had a little help from their parents. It was a family project!

A close-up of the peppermint pretzel fence with its icing and candy decoration. These were definitely a hit this year.
ginger
Janine did this chocolate fence - also pretzels from Apple Valley. We had too much green icing for this batch - so had to use it up creatively.
ginger
Janine decorated this house. Lots of yellow and green icing to use made some interesting looks this year. Rock garden in the front yard.
ginger
The back of Janine's house. Notice the sagging gable. Icing wasn't quite hard enough. At first I thought it was the warmth of the house where we had the party, but later learned from our expert, Julie, that it was probably that we didn't beat the icing long enough.
ginger tree
Tiny candy canes on Janine's tree.
ginger
A view from the top. Notice the blue pond in the back yard.
ginger
Brittany's house from the front. Notice the wreath above the door and the fence on the front path.
ginger
A view of Brittany's back yard and back window.
ginger
A view of Brittany's house from the top. Double layered roof, cool tree, great yard decorations!
duct taping the icing bag
We had a lot of trouble with the green icing. Here we are patching an icing bag hernia with duct tape!!
ginger
Karyl's house from the front. Check out all the amazing detail - including a snowy backyard and garlands on the roof.
ginger
Karyl's hosue from the back.
ginger
Karyl's double fence: decorated yogurt pretzels and then another row of Christmas candy corn.
ginger
Notice the wreath at the back window. These tiny holly pieces were fun to use!

In the second party, builders were Meleta, Kaitlyn, Shaya, Dena, M and her kids, and me.
table
The table of candy and supplies. We also had the kitchen island covered with more fun things to use for decorating.
ginger
M made this house along with her 4 and 6 year old kids. It was their first time. The roof has two different designs on each side.
ginger
What a delicious roof!
ginger
Look at the cool pattern of candy and straight pretzels on the back wall matching the side wall.
ginger
Shaya's house with so many creative yard pieces. This was Meleta, Kaitlyn, and Shaya's 6th year of gingerbread house decorating. They are pros and super creative! (See 2010 if you don't believe me!)

Shaya's house from the other front angle. Look at the awesome fences she made this year!
