Abba used to say

soon Messiah will come
no more Romans anymore

Abba made me work fishing all the day
but I couldn't fish and I liked to play
so I learned to steal

Fishing was easy
though at first I was uneasy
sins chains bound me tight
no will had I to fight

people began to say
everywhere I went
the Messiah has come
no more Romans anymore

one day I saw Jesus
peaceful loving face
I knew I needed His grace
but the priests told me He lied
and so I passed on by

few years later I was down
on the town with my friends
big profit tonight
but this time there was no fight
stern judges pronounced my fate
all I could do was wait
and remember.

Friday dawned
and I watched the other two
and saw the Man Jesus

why didn't He fight and swear
did He not care?
till I looked in His eyes
and knew His care

the nails pierced our hands
we screamed and we swore
but He only said
Father forgive
the crosses jarred in place
blood ran down His face
the priests jeered
and so did we
til conscience smote
and I remembered

quickly the answer came
you will be in my kingdom
with Me.
