Friends Forever
Written November 30, 1991

Tension on the rope that bound us together
Tension frayed and tore the rope
But then we each surrendered to the call
As pride came to its fall
And Jesus healed our hearts.

Chorus
Oh we are friends forever
We clung to our King
And through the fire
We've come out as friends forever
Oh yea, friends forever because of Jesus

Tension on the rope that bound him to his Friend
An enemy frayed and tore the rope
A martyr John died alone yet torn ropes held him fast
His trust in his King
Revealed God as a Friend.

Chorus 2
Oh they are friends forever
John the Baptist and his King
Through the fire
They've come out as friends forever
Oh yea, friends forever because of trust

Oh tension on the rope may tug at your trust
But remember, when Jesus holds the ropes
Nothing can burn or break them.

Oh we are friends forever
I cling to my King
And through the fire
We'll come out as friends forever
Oh yea, friends forever because our God is a friend
Oh yea, our God is a Friend because He is love.
