Multicultural Experience
  • Studied at Andrews University with international students from 80+ countries 1990-95
  • Teacher/Volunteer, Arno, Marshall Islands 1991-92
    • Taught 4th and 5th grades, all subjects to students with very limited English skills
    • Started a new school with limited supplies and classroom facilities
    • Learned Marshallese well enough to understand my students most of the time
    • Visited Pohnpei and Guam as well as Arno and Majuro in the Marshall Islands
  • Trip to Sarawak, Malaysia to dig wells, Far Eastern Academy, Singapore March 1989
  • Bell Choir, Far Eastern Academy, Singapore 1988-89
  • Toured Hong Kong, Thailand, Taiwan, and Korea
  • Toured Europe with my parents Summer 1986
    • Visited Germany, Switzerland, England, Netherlands, and France
  • Parents were teachers in Pakistan 1983-89
    • Visited Hunza in Northern Pakistan
    • Learned some Urdu and could read about 1st grade level
