But why should anyone trust God?
In the beginning we saw that sin brought fear and distrust of God. Let's look at a human example.
If we do not trust someone, we are not inclined to do what they may want us to do. So, fear of God brings distrust of God, which in turn brings disobedience to God's will. However, God's will for us is that we may have peace and health and forgiveness of sin. Let's see what He has to say:
John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." The only peace the world can give is through force or the threat of punishment. God's peace is inner peace.
3 John 2 "Beloved I pray that you may propser in all things and be in health." God never intended that there should be disease and suffering.
