I'm suffering like this and I need encouragement.
As long as there is sin, there will be suffering. It is inevitable. But God has not left us to suffer alone. When we become a Christian, God gives us a Comforter, the Holy Spirit. And if we accept God's eternal purposes in suffering, we will be comforted. Sometimes we don't see His purposes, but we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28, NKJV.
Jesus, who was without sin, suffered intensely in the presence of sin. Hebrews 2:18; Hebrews 5:8. The heartache of death caused Him to weep. John 11:35; see the full story in John 11. He could not tolerate illness in His presence and He would heal anyone who asked. However, He would not override their free choice.
As Jesus said, Oh foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory? Luke 24:25-26. If indeed we suffer with Him, that we also may be glorified with Him. Rom. 8:17 (Link to Romans 8:12-18) In this world, there is suffering; but it will fade into insignificance when compared with the rewards in heaven.
But is it really worth it?
I want to have faith like this.
But what about temptation?
