"If God is so good, why does He allow suffering?"
In the beginning, God created free choice. Adam and Eve were given the choice to eat or not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. (Genesis 2:15-17) God also informed them of the consequences of their choice. God will not override our choices. If He did, free choice wouldn't exist.
The result of the choice they made brought fear, and fear brought suffering (Genesis 3). Adam and Eve suffered broken relationships and all the heart-ache that brings. Their relationship with God was broken. Their relationship with each other was broken. Animals became afraid of them.
God did not create this suffering. It was a result of their sin, their disobedience.
Where did sin come from?
But good people suffer too...
