So then what is hell all about?
The
Hebrew word sheol and the Greek word hades are often translated
"hell." The original words in both Testaments simply mean "the
grave." So in verses such as this one, And I also say to you that
you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades
shall not prevail against it. Matthew 16:18, NKJV; Jesus is really talking
about the gates of the grave.
I've heard hell is a place of eternal torment.
I've heard that hell is what we make of this life while we're on earth.
